PRODUCT DESIGN OF THE YEAR
sarakele studio’s work combines sustainability with a contemporary approach to furniture design. FLORA explores vegan leather alternatives and mycelium composites as seating surfaces. The stool gives new life to industrial leftovers from a children’s toy manufactory as turned beech wood elements.
In the work of Sára Kele, designer at sarakele studio, sustainable material use and a consistent approach to contemporary furniture design are central. The studio, which develops its own collections as well as HoReCa projects, combines artisanal skills with innovative material applications. Its projects are realized with a comprehensive approach, from design to production. The FLORA modular stool repurposes industrial surplus from a toy-making workshop in the form of turned beech wood elements, while also exploring the potential of vegan leather alternatives and mycelium composites as seating surfaces.
